Register now for our members only lifting challenge

Our exclusive members challenges give our community a chance to test themselves in a safe and familiar arena supported by their friends, family and other members.

Previous competitions have seen people from 16-60 achieve things they’ve never done before and gain recognition for their hard work.

Our events have always been a great part of our community experience with free food, prizes and stuff for the kids to do.

We want to encourage every member to improve their strength and confidence and if it’s your first time we will help you from start to finish via our Lifting Club and Barbelles group sessions.

We will be holding a competition prep sessions on 23rd November

This will help you get prepared for the event especially if it’s your first time.

You can book your place via TeamUp here BOOK PREP SESSION

Both lifts will be run according to powerlifting standards (which means there will be a pause on the bench 👀💀) – 2 lifts, 3 attempts in each.

Because of limited spaces, there is no weight or age classes – the top 3 females and males will be determined by points!

Rules for both lifts:
  1. Each participant will have 3 attempts – first attempt in the first round, second attempt in the second round and third attempt in the third round.
  2. The bar must be loaded progressively during each round on the principle of a rising bar. Each participant will have 60s after finishing attempt to submit weight for the next one.
  3. All participants must arrive for their weigh-in at the designated time. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Times for weigh-in and lift-off will be announced before the competition day. Weight is being taken for a points calculation purpose.

Bench press rules:
  1. The lifter must lie on their back with head, shoulders and buttocks in contact with the bench surface. The feet must be flat on the floor. Their hands and fingers must grip the bar positioned in the rack stands with a thumbs around grip.
  2. After removing the bar from the racks, with or without the help of the spotter, the lifter shall wait with straight arms elbows locked for the Referee’s signal. The signal shall be given as soon as the lifter is motionless and the bar properly positioned.
  3. The signal to begin the attempt shall consist of a downward movement of the arm together with the audible command “Start”.
  4. After receiving the signal, the lifter must lower the bar to the chest or abdominal area and hold it motionless, after which the Chief referee will signal the audible command “Press “. The lifter must then return the bar to straight arms length elbows locked.

Deadlift rules:
  1. The lifter shall face the front of the platform with the bar laid horizontally in front of the lifter’s feet, gripped with an optional grip in both hands and lifted until the lifter is standing erect.
  2. On completion of the lift, the knees shall be locked in a straight position and the shoulders back.
  3. The Referee’s signal shall consist of a downward movement of the arm and the audible command “Down”. The signal will not be given until the bar is held motionless and the lifter is in the apparent finished position.
  4. Deadlift straps and supporting the bar on thighs is not allowed.

  • The weigh-in will take place from 8.30am
  • Final weigh in time is 10am
  • Lift-off for bench press will kick off at 11:00am.
  • There will be a short break between bench and deadlift.
  • All timing will be confirmed before the day and maybe subject to change

First, second and third place will be selected for women and men for each lift based on the point system (sex/body weight/weight on the bar).
